Engin Arıkan was born in Ankara and studied at International Relations Department of the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University. He also studied at Foreign Service Programme of the Oxford University.
Arıkan joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1998. In Ankara, he served at the Middle East Department, Counter-terrorism Department and EU Accession Process Department.
Abroad, Arıkan served at Turkish Embassy in Sana’a, Yemen, Turkish Embassy in London and Turkish Permanent Respresentation to the European Union in Brussels.
From 2011-2014, Arıkan served as the Turkish Consul General in Batumi, Georgia. Prior to his current post, from 2014-2018, he served as the diplomatic advisor to Turkish Ministers for European Union Affairs.
Arıkan assumed his duties as the Turkish Consul General in Amsterdam on 1 September 2018.
Married, with two children.
